Charlotte de Witte pairs her Formula EP with a livestream at Ferrari's own test track

A day-before broadcast from Ferrari's own test circuit ties the EP's racing concept to real horsepower.

Dance music has spent the past few years treating the release date as only half the rollout, with the real spectacle staged wherever a camera can reach it.

Charlotte de Witte is stretching that habit about as far as it’ll go this week. Her new ‘Formula EP’ lands on her own KNTXT on 30 April, a full day after she broadcasts live from the Autodromo Internazionale del Mugello, a circuit in Tuscany that Ferrari owns.

It’s the fourth instalment of her New Form mix series, and it’s filmed track-side instead of in a studio. Partway through, one of Ferrari’s own SF90 Stradale road cars ran laps past her decks for the length of the broadcast. It’s a strange way to launch a record. She’s said the whole concept grew out of revisiting a track about Schumacher by DJ Visage, which pushed her toward the engine noise and pace that run through the EP.

It’s the latest step on a label she’s called home since 2019: ‘Formula EP’ follows ‘Rave on Time EP’. “I’ve always been fascinated by the high adrenaline racing world,” she said of the new record. “Rapid movements, living in the moment, racing through life, eyes on the future. As far as concepts go for an EP, this is one of my favorite ones so far.”

It’s a three-track record. The title cut closes it out.
