Boris Brejcha and Ginger’s “To The Moon And Back” arrives on Ultra Records on 24 January, built around Brejcha’s own strain of minimal techno and the recurring hook of Ginger’s voice repeating the title back at the listener throughout.

He calls the sound High-Tech Minimal. It’s a genre he built and named himself, one some critics treat as shorthand for where dance music’s heading next, and on this track it’s melodic and driving, engineered for a room well past midnight.

The groove holds a strange balance: dark under the hood, bouncy on top, and it doesn’t shift much from first bar to last. Drums move with real intent, working against a rough, distorted low end and short, sharp synth hits that don’t let up. Rides and hats hold it down to the last bar.

Brejcha first confirmed a new album was coming during a Reddit AMA a year earlier, and that album, Space Diver, now premieres on Ultra Music on the same day as this single. One track, one album, one release date.

Longtime listeners will already recognize it. The track’s already spent years turning up inside his live sets, worked into set after set long before it ever got any kind of formal, official studio release.
