Black Coffee slows it down on "Wish You Were Here"

Black Coffee slows things right down on this one, arriving via Ultra Records and stepping well away from the driving house sound that’s carried most of his catalogue to date.

It marks a real turn from “Drive,” his recent collaboration with David Guetta, and from the rhythmic, upbeat house that usually defines a Black Coffee set. A stripped-back, downtempo cut from him doesn’t come along often. Here the tempo drops, the energy pulls back with it, and the mood follows close behind.

Black Coffee’s year, meanwhile, has been about as big as they come. He’s played Coachella, Tomorrowland, and closed out a night at New York’s Terminal 5, all within the past year.

None of that shows up here. This single sits somewhere else entirely, built for a much smaller room than Coachella or Terminal 5, the kind of song that suits the end of a night and not the middle of one.
