Yotto Built 'Silhouette' Around A Guitar He Didn't Know How To Play
The ambient single, featuring Sansa, arrives ahead of his eight-track album for Anjunadeep's new label.
Known for filling rooms with heavy low end and relentless club sets, Yotto turns toward ‘Silhouette,’ something quieter than his usual sound.
The single, released 13 June, features Helsinki vocalist Sansa and arrives ahead of ‘Erased Dreams,’ his eight-track ambient album for Reflections, Anjunadeep’s new sister label built around slower, more ethereal sound.
Yotto’s catalogue already includes a Billboard number-one album. Official remixes for Joris Voorn, Gorillaz and Coldplay are in there too.
“I bought a guitar, which I had no idea how to play,” Yotto said. He ran it through pedals, stretching single sounds until they became something else entirely, and the rest of the album grew out of those experiments.
He put the tracks into one playlist and recognized a shape he hadn’t planned for, and “I think the beauty lies in the simplicity of it,” he said.
It isn’t built for a club floor. There’s no percussion running through it, and ‘Silhouette’ never tries to be club music.
