Yotto's long-awaited sophomore album Growth is finally here

Five years ago, Yotto put out his debut album, ‘Hyperfall,’ on Anjunadeep. In between then and now he detoured into ambient territory with ‘Erased Dreams.’ ‘Growth,’ his second full-length, is out today on his own Odd One Out label.

It’s thirteen tracks. Advance singles ‘Just Over’ and ‘Let You Go’ came ahead of it, and both are folded into the tracklist here, not left sitting outside it as standalone teasers.

The record opens on ‘Intro,’ an ambient, experimental cut, before swinging toward lighter ground on ‘Just the Kinda Feeling’ with Lost Boy. ‘Just Over’ brings a gentle, mellow vocal refrain, and it’s the kind of track that could just as easily have closed the record as opened its middle stretch. ‘No Ending’ picks the thread back up from there; ‘Encounters,’ a collaboration with Booka Shade, goes deeper still, and ‘Breezer’ rides a steady, churning bassline through the record’s later stretch.

He’s already kicked off a tour under the same name, in Brooklyn, on February 4th. Growth is streaming now, and it’s worth checking the tour dates if you’re anywhere near one of the stops.
