Israeli Duo Y do I Deliver Debut Album 'I Know' on Area Verde
A first full-length from a pair who have been making electronic music between them for two decades.
Y do I are an Israeli production duo whose debut album ‘I Know’ arrives through Area Verde on 10 September, after years in which the pair put out nothing longer than a single.
One half of the pair, David, has spent twenty years in electronic music, arriving here by way of several genres. He’d started producing young. The gigs began about fifteen years back and they haven’t stopped since.
Twenty years of that, and no album until now. Plenty of producers stay in the singles economy for a whole career, because that’s where dance music actually lives and because an album-length statement is a different kind of work.
“Our debut album brings a futuristic interpretation to classical electronic music,” the duo said of it.
That’s a claim about lineage as much as about sound, which is the sort of thing the album format has room enough to carry.
Eleven tracks, with the title track giving the record its name.
