Tinlicker's debut album 'This Is Not Our Universe' is out on Anjunabeats
The Utrecht duo's first full-length grew out of earlier singles, including a remix of alt-J's 'Breezeblocks.'
Tinlicker’s debut album, ‘This Is Not Our Universe,’ is out now on Anjunabeats.
The Utrecht duo have been releasing music since 2012, and the album’s their first full-length together, arriving after they signed to Anjunabeats in 2019, the label they’d already released ‘Need You’ through. “This is actually our first album together,” Tinlicker said.
It grew out of earlier tracks that pointed the way there one at a time: ‘Lost,’ with Run Rivers, and a remix of alt-J’s ‘Breezeblocks,’ each one folded into the record before it finally came together as a full album.
The record pulls from deep house, drifts into progressive territory, and leans trance in its more atmospheric stretches, carried by a handful of vocalists across the tracklist. It sits on a label catalogue that already includes Jody Wisternoff, Genix and Fatum.
It’s worth hearing start to finish, the way the duo meant it: as one record, not a run of singles stitched together.
