Solomun crosses genre lines on Tuk Tuk
Solomun follows a year spent launching his own label with a vocal club track built around Inéz of ÄTNA.
After spending most of 2020 launching his new label, NINL, in the middle of the pandemic shutdown that emptied clubs everywhere, Solomun returns with a new single, Tuk Tuk, out via BMG Rights Management.
The track’s built on bright, driving percussion, with Inéz, one half of the act ÄTNA, taking the vocal lead across a shifting range of tempos. It doesn’t settle into just one groove.
ÄTNA’s debut, Made By Desire, arrived that same year on Humming Records and it marked a new chapter for German pop. The act picked up the German music award ANCHOR that September.
Tuk Tuk itself pulls in more than one scene: club-ready energy carried by a pop vocal, the styles meeting somewhere in the middle. Neither one’s fully in charge, and neither’s an afterthought.
Tuk Tuk’s out now via BMG Rights Management, best heard with the vocal in front, wherever the tempo happens to land.
