Solomun opens his year on Diynamic

Kinesphere features Coco Nancy and follows two sold-out nights in the Great Hall at Alexandra Palace.

Solomun has spent recent years playing the sort of rooms most producers never get inside, and on 6 and 7 February he sold out two consecutive nights in the Great Hall at Alexandra Palace.

‘Kinesphere’ is the record that follows them. It arrives on Diynamic Music with Coco Nancy on the vocal, and it’s being pitched as the first proper indication of where he’s taking the rest of the year.

That’s two releases in quick order from a producer who could coast on the bookings alone and never hear a word about it. The one before this was ‘Say Nothing’, his collaboration with Denis Sulta.

The track is built on simplicity and that’s the entire trick. It stays powerful and it stays flexible, and it still covers most of his range on the way through, from the melodic and vocal-led end of what he does to the deeper, more machine- minded one he made his name in.

There’s a version of this record that turns up stacked with ideas and lands nowhere at all. ‘Kinesphere’ doesn’t go looking for that. Out 6 March on Diynamic Music.
