Red Axes Pick Up Guitars for 'LOUD' on The Axe Files

The duo's new album turns raw and guitar-led, after fifteen years of shows running from DC-10 to Glastonbury.

Dori Sadovnik is one half of Red Axes, and Niv Arzi is the other, and on 21 November the pair put out ‘LOUD’ through The Axe Files.

It’s a guitar record, raw and rooted in the club culture the group came up in, which makes this album a turn in the sound and not a continuation of the last one.

There’s a catalogue behind it. ‘Ballad of the Ice’, ‘The Beach Goths’, ‘Red Axes’, ‘One More City’.

There’s fifteen years of shows behind the catalogue too, and the range in those bookings is the striking part. Coachella. Glastonbury. Berghain, and DC-10.

Those rooms ask for very different sets, and a group that can hold every one of them has a wide idea of what club music is allowed to be in the first place. ‘LOUD’ is where that idea goes next.

Play it loud, and play it whole. Guitars this raw lose something when a set takes one track and leaves the rest. It’s an album or it’s nothing.
