Jamie Jones returns to Defected with 'My Paradise'
It's Jones's first release on Defected in three years, and it traces straight back to his own Ibiza party of the same name.
Best known as Hot Creations label boss, Jamie Jones returns to Defected Records for the first time in three years with ‘My Paradise.’
“I remember back in my early Ibiza seasons around 2000,” Jones said. “There were these big anthems that used pumped up 909 hi-hats, a heavy kick drum, a looping disco groove; producers like Armand Van Helden and Full Intention did it so well. I wanted to re-create this for the 2022 dance floor, and ‘My Paradise’ is what came out.”
The title’s borrowed straight from Paradise, the Ibiza night Jones founded and built into a global brand; it’s known for late, easy sets and lineups people plan trips for.
On the track, disco takes over. An earworm vocal sits on top of elegant keys, while underneath it Jones leans on the driving low end and swing that’s become something of a signature for him.
It lands just ahead of Ibiza’s season proper, and that timing doesn’t look accidental.
‘My Paradise’ also carries an exclusive extended mix, and they’re both out now via Defected.
