Jamie Jones and Green Velvet team up on 'Butterflies'

Green Velvet’s vocals are what actually carry ‘Butterflies,’ even though the bassline belongs entirely to Jamie Jones.

Jones has said he’d been holding out for a good while for the right one to bring to Velvet; the moment he finished this particular bassline, he knew straightaway that the wait was finally over. The low end thumps; the drums stay sharp-edged; a wash of dreamy, faraway synth drifts underneath everything else. Velvet’s vocal is what pulls the whole arrangement into shape.

‘Butterflies’ landed as a joint single on Helix Records. On the strength of that same high-energy, groove-heavy house sound, it’s already turning into a steady fixture in club sets and festival circuits everywhere.

The song plays like two lanes meeting in the middle. Jones supplies the low end, Velvet supplies the hook; neither one sounds like a guest here.
