Hot Since 82's New Album '8-track' Honors A Friend He Lost
Proceeds from the Knee Deep In Sound full-length go to the mental health charity Mind.
A brooding low end anchors ‘Vapours,’ the opener, threading tense synth work and warm arpeggios beneath soft, heavenly vocal fragments in a gently trance-lit take on rolling house.
Hot Since 82, born Daley Padley, has his new full-length album, ‘8-track,’ out now on Knee Deep In Sound. It’s a thirteen-track record that took two years to put together.
He made it while touring nonstop through a packed schedule and mourning the loss of a close friend, and its proceeds are going to Mind, a mental health charity. “This is a cause very close to my heart,” he says, “as I have lost a dear friend who battled mental health problems.” It offers support to people struggling with their mental health so they don’t feel alone, and putting the album’s proceeds toward it says something about what making it actually cost him.
Hot Since 82’s been releasing music since 2012, and the label’s been home since 2014.
The tracklist doesn’t stop at track eight. It closes with a full continuous mix of the record, stitched end to end as one uninterrupted run.
