Colyn's first EP for Afterlife: Resolve lands 30 August

Endless texture, delayed synth shutters, a groove that keeps tipping over into euphoria. That’s what Colyn sounds like, and by the summer of 2019 enough of the right people had noticed that his first EP for Afterlife was always going to land on an audience already leaning forward. ‘Amor’ is what did it. Afterlife signed the track and put it on Realm Of Consciousness Pt.IV, and heads turned quickly. Joris Voorn’s turned quickest. He played it at Awakenings, he played it on his Spectrum radio show, and he went as far as calling it one of his favourite records of the year.

So ‘Resolve’ isn’t a first outing nobody was waiting for. It’s Colyn’s first EP for Afterlife, the label Tale Of Us run, and it’s four tracks long. ‘Gravity’ closes it out. The track takes the euphoric end of his palette and presses it into something heavier and properly moving, which is more or less what Afterlife asks of a record, and it gets there without ever sounding like it’s straining for the fit. ‘Exchange’ arrives at the same place by a different road.
