The Journey's 'Illuminate' surfaces on Oliver Koletzki's Schneeweiss 11
The track is cut from a various-artists set curated, and titled, after Oliver Koletzki himself.
A various-artists compilation lives or dies by whoever curated it, since dance music has no shortage of collections built on one person’s taste alone. ‘Illuminate,’ by The Journey, is cut from one such set, which landed 6 December on Stil Vor Talent Records. The compilation is called Schneeweiss 11: Presented by Oliver Koletzki.
Koletzki, whose two solo albums keep coming back to his home city as a subject in its own right, put the collection together himself. Given that Berlin has been his clearest point of reference for years, it’s not a stretch to hear the same instinct behind a various-artists project that carries his name on the cover. The same pull evidently shaped who else made the cut, too.
The Journey has been putting out music for a while now. They’ve been at it since 2016. ‘Illuminate’ follows their previous release, the ‘Chasing’ EP.
For a various-artists set, that’s an unusually personal throughline: the whole collection extends Koletzki’s own catalogue, built around the same city he’s always come back to.
