Seth Troxler launches Slacker 85 with the year-tested 'Pills'
Troxler's new label debuts with a groove that had already spent a year in his own DJ sets.
A brand new label already has company lined up, with the likes of Jackmaster, Ghoulish and Cesar Merveille signed on before it has even put out a record of its own.
That label is Slacker 85, Troxler’s own imprint, and ‘Pills’ is its first release, out now. It’s an acid groove pitched low and unhurried, one that had already spent close to a year moving through his own DJ sets before finally getting an official release.
It didn’t arrive from nowhere. Troxler had been carrying the track through his own sets for the better part of a year, playing it out in front of crowds long before it had a release date attached. ‘Pills’ finally has that date, and a label to call home.
The label’s ethos leans into the same laid-back attitude its name promises, relaxed and daring, more interested in a personal groove than in fitting a mold. Its next planned release, an EP catalogued as SLACKER001, brings those three in alongside Troxler on the bill, and Slacker 85 itself is built to span apparel and art as well as music.
Before ‘Pills,’ Troxler’s last release anywhere was ‘Lumartes.’ This one lands on 19 July.
