Lost Desert Returns to All Day I Dream With Drift
Drift pairs a vocal-led opener with a Paul Ross collaboration on the flip, and follows Saudade as Lost Desert's next release on the label.
The record settles into something warm and unhurried before any name arrives, drifting toward a patient, dreamlike groove.
Lost Desert has released Drift, a new EP on All Day I Dream. Aiola, the vocalist who opens the collection, sets that tone immediately; her voice rides above floating melodies while the groove takes its time reaching full stride. It’s a patient opening, the kind that trusts a listener to stay through the build instead of demanding attention at the first bar.
Paul Ross joins him for the record’s second half, and together they built ‘Shooting Stars’ and its extended mix around bright, layered synths, pulling the EP toward something more radiant by the close. It’s a small pivot, but a real one, and the warmth stays even as the tempo opens up.
Lost Desert first joined All Day I Dream in 2016, releasing ‘Lingala’ alongside Lee Burridge, and Drift now follows Saudade as his next release on the label.
That partnership’s kept running alongside his own catalogue. Last year he paired with Lee again on ‘November Snowflakes,’ the same year he released his solo Saudade EP. Solo records like Drift sit next to the collaborative ‘Lost Desert & Friends’ series, two strands he’s kept running side by side. He’s kept busy beyond the studio too, featuring on the label’s A Winter Sampler VII compilation earlier this year and playing showcases in Cape Town, Montenegro and Barcelona, with a stop in Georgia still ahead.
