A handful of DJs tied to the same beach club have each reworked the track in their own style, and none of them started from a blank page, since every version begins with what Kleijn built and moves outward from there.
Handing the track to that many other people isn’t really about needing outside material. It reads more like an invitation, a way of keeping the whole thing inside the room it’s named for.
Kleijn has pointed to a different kind of memory behind the record: the smaller afterparties that used to happen inside the venue itself. It’s a fair guess that ‘Woodstock’ was made with that same feeling in mind, low, intimate, and built for a late room that isn’t chasing a main stage at all.
‘Woodstock’ is out now via DAYS like NIGHTS, ready for whenever that particular mood hits.
