Nora En Pure's 'Birthright' arrives on Enormous Tunes
She'd already opened a Coachella set with the piece before it had a name or a release date.
Before ‘Birthright’ had a name, Nora En Pure had already put it in front of a crowd, opening her Coachella set earlier this year with an emotive piece nobody watching could yet place. The version she was playing wouldn’t become an official single until 24 May, when Enormous Tunes put it out.
It’s mostly piano, start to finish. Strings and keys open the track before it settles into a smoother, more relaxed house groove built around the same melody.
Enormous Tunes has carried her since 2010, the same year she started releasing altogether, which means it’s nearly a decade by the time ‘Birthright’ arrives. As far as the record shows, it’s the only label she’s ever been on. ‘Birthright’ follows her previous single there, Sphinx.
The same piano melody that opened her set at Coachella, earlier that year, is the one carrying the record now that it’s finally got a name.
