Joris Voorn announces downtempo album 'Melatonin' via Spectrum (NL)
The title reverses Serotonin, his last club-facing record, and turns toward something quieter.
Best known for precise, club-built techno, Joris Voorn steps outside the club entirely on Melatonin, out 13 March 2026 via Spectrum (NL).
The album doesn’t lean on the peak-time material that built Voorn’s catalogue. It trades that momentum for longer, more spacious, downtempo and ambient arrangements built around close, textured detail, with the pads and sound design carrying more weight than the kick does, closer to a listening record than a dancefloor tool.
Serotonin, Voorn’s outward-facing, club-oriented predecessor, gave way to a record whose very name points toward rest instead of movement. That earlier album pushed toward crowds and momentum, while this one turns inward instead, and the pairing is a deliberate inversion, continued from one title to the next. It’s the kind of turn a catalogue this long can afford to make.
Melatonin doesn’t arrive without history. It follows Don’t Be Afraid, Voorn’s previous release, and sits alongside Serotonin in a catalogue that swings from tightly wound techno to more open, melodic work.
Spectrum (NL), the label behind Melatonin, has carried Voorn’s work since 2004.
