Disclosure resurface with 'Moonlight' on Universal-Island

Disclosure return after months away with 'Moonlight', the first of a surprise run of new songs, and a Guy Lawrence quote on where the sample came from.

Howard and Guy Lawrence, the English duo behind Disclosure, resurfaced this week after months of quiet to release ‘Moonlight’, the first of a surprise run of songs for Universal-Island Records.

The pair had said back in January that they’d skip their own WILD LIFE festival with Rudimental this summer, choosing instead to work toward a third album. This track’s the clearest sign yet that the time off produced something. Barely a day after it landed, they followed it with a second track, ‘Where Angels Fear to Tread’. More material looks to be arriving in quick succession.

Disclosure has said the track came together at Guy’s house, built around a sample of the Swedish group The Real Group’s version of the standard ‘When I Fall In Love’. They’ve said they wanted to “bring some Disclosure deep house chords and basslines to the forefront.”

Howard and Guy built their name on 2013 debut album ‘Settle’. This run continues a pattern from earlier in the year. They’d already returned once, with a surprise collaboration alongside Fatoumata Diawara, their partner on the single ‘Ultimatum’.
