Damian Lazarus Shares 'Mountain,' the First Single From His Album Flourish
Recorded around a vision from a night alone in the Alps, the track lands on Higher Ground, a label debut for the Crosstown Rebels founder.
Damian Lazarus has released ‘Mountain,’ his first single on Higher Ground and the lead single from his upcoming album, Flourish.
The song’s vocals come from a vision Lazarus experienced during a night alone in the Alps, set against a low end built on wobble. It’s out as a three-track single. Two remixes come with it, one from Tornado Wallace and one from Tibi Dabo.
‘Mountain’ follows ‘Message From the Other Side,’ Lazarus’s last release, and it’s from an artist who also runs the label Crosstown Rebels and curates the events Day Zero and Get Lost. He averages more than 150 shows a year, and that pull toward the underground end of the dancefloor has fed a recent resurgence for Crosstown Rebels too, and Higher Ground has also released music from Djibril Cissé, Paul Woolford, and KUU.
Flourish was largely finished in the studio after February, built from ideas Lazarus had been holding onto for years.
