Brina Knauss surfaces with 'Drowning' through Cercle

Three releases and a label launch deep into one summer, with a new video series still to come, Brina Knauss found room for one more, putting out ‘Drowning’ through Cercle on 11 July 2024.

The track moves fast, built on a driving melody that sits over a heavy kick, and it’s what gives the vocal more weight than it would carry alone.

She’s also lining up an EP on Empath, the label that’s hers alone, alongside a new series called ‘Search for the B’: sets recorded in unusual, intimate spots instead of the rooms she normally plays.

Classical training in her youth still shows in how the writing holds together, more visible in the chord and melody choices than in the drum programming. That grounding gives ‘Drowning’ its push: a fast melody line over a heavy low end. It’s the same instinct behind the emotional depth and transcendent atmosphere melodic house doesn’t always reach.

She spent 2023 stacking credits that read like a wish list. Tomorrowland, Extrema, Street Parade and Afterlife all went on the calendar that year, and it’s kept growing since.

That same stretch put her on festival bills next to Carl Cox, Solomun, Dubfire, and Black Coffee.
