Adriatique launch new label X Recordings with 'The Future Is Unknown'
The first release on Adriatique's own imprint arrives after a decade on Afterlife, Rose Avenue and Diynamic.
Adriatique, the Zürich duo of Adrian Shala and Adrian Schweizer, has released for over a decade on labels including Afterlife, Rose Avenue and Diynamic, and ‘The Future Is Unknown’ is the first release on an imprint of their own, X Recordings.
The track builds through slow-turning, unsettling melodies set against a bassline that keeps sinking lower, and it’s meant to preview the sound X Recordings will carry going forward. Adriatique have pitched the label’s early direction as futuristic and immersive, closer to a soundscape than a single track. It’s built for a dark room more than a bright one.
They launched their first label, Siamese, in 2016, and released their debut album, ‘Nude,’ in 2018.
This year has also brought new collaborations from the duo: ‘Miracle’ with WhoMadeWho, followed by ‘With You’ with Gordo, both released ahead of ‘The Future Is Unknown.’
It’s not yet a full statement of what X Recordings will become, just its first release.
